The Ongoing Evolution of Diggers01/07/19 - Latest News
The sad news of the closing of our Feast Buffet in June, has been quickly superseded by the exciting announcement of a major refurbishment to be undertaken to the entire operational floor which will make diggers @ the entrance almost unrecognisable once the $2.5 million dollar renovation is complete.
Patrons can expect to see a new eatery roof with 2 skylights and the floor to ceiling glass windows, a large tree, a new kitchen / café and TAB and 2 new function rooms, a new kids play centre will be part of the new offering, as will a completely renovated trading floor once the makeover is finished.
The multi-million dollar project is to undertaken by Boden Constructions with Altis Architects and will create an offering not available in anyway similar to any Pub or Club on the Coast.
The diggers board of directors want to rejuvenate and renew our business model to help attract new patronage, diggers will have a modern, contemporary, feel with a number of top-line facilities. The club will have an outdoor / indoor feel.
The main dining area, will have an inside courtyard feel with glass skylights presenting an abundance of natural light. 2 new function rooms one larger and one smaller are also on the agenda. All current bar service areas will receive an upgrade as will the Quids lounge both indoor and external areas.
The club will get a new Cafe which will allow us to expand our menu, customers can sit in different sections of the club and graze from a wide selection of offerings from all the club favourites including steaks, pizzas and pastas but there will also be Asian fusion and contemporary meals such as tapas and share plates.
The renovation was the next stage in the club’s makeover. ‘diggers’ is overdue for a makeover with the last been some 6 years ago prior to the construction of the IBIS Hotel in 2014.
Currently diggers has a darker, homely and earthy feel with brown tones, the renovations will give the club a beachy open air feel with the local colours and tones being a feature and a tie to the current on trend activity currently booming in Long Jetty.
Construction will commence in August 2019 and the build will take 16 take weeks. Just in time for the club to welcome the many holiday makers from Sydney and further afield.
There will be some disturbance to members and some areas may have reduced capacity but we will add seats to other areas, and minimise any distribution.
We will continue to trade seven days a week for lunch and dinner, not only trade but offerings at unbelievable prices such as $5.50 roasts and woks. Families will be encouraged to patronise the venue when our new child’s play facility opens as a part of the new facility, offering all kinds of physical play equipment and technology to keep the kids entertained under the watchful eye of mum & dad.
The renovation is yet another step in the ever ongoing evolution of the area’s largest employee and your ongoing support pre, during and post construction is most appreciated, please say hi when your next in the club for the next 4 months I will be the one in the hi-vis vest and hard hat, bring it on!
